Bring the kids, the dog, ramble around Leigh Woods then hang your wellies at the door & enjoy idyllic countryside fare at our friendly local: welcome to The George Inn at Abbots Leigh.
That’s what we did in 2014, when given the keys to our sprawling coach house just over a mile from the iconic Clifton suspension bridge in the village of Abbots Leigh. A roaring fire, cask ales & a family-friendly beer garden were at the top of our list. Our huge garden includes a kids' assault course to keep your little'uns entertained while you take the weight off & enjoy our delightful offerings from 'The Friar's Tuck' wood fired pizza oven & barbecue. In the kitchen we create the dishes that made our first pub, Somerset House, famous. Driven by our trademark perfection, we kept working until we’d created the finest country local in the South West. And by George; we think we managed it.
After an afternoon rambling across the Somerset countryside, drop into the George, sink into an armchair & treat yourself to a hoppy ale or cool, crisp glass of wine.Drinks
Abbots Leigh is a short hop from Clifton village across Brunel’s suspension bridge. It’s an idyllic escape from the Bristol city bustle, nestled in the heart of Leigh Woods & perfectly positioned for long walks through those rolling Somerset hills.Gallery
The George isn’t just another gastro pub. Together with Somerset House in Clifton, we’ve worked hard to create a menu that plays on the idea of British bistro: an evolving, seasonal selection of dishes that are creative, filling & utterly delicious.Food
